How do I get started working with you?

To schedule your 20-minute complimentary phone consultation, please call my confidential voicemail (858) 384-0262 or email at hilimanntherapy@gmail.com and leave your name, phone number, and times when you can be reached and talk privately.

When on the phone, we will talk about your circumstance and the issues at hand, about my treatment approach, and decide together whether we are a good fit for your therapy.

If we determine that we are not a good fit, I will attempt to provide you with referrals that may be better suited for you.

How long will I be in therapy?

The extent of therapy varies depending on your individual goals and circumstance. Treatment may focus on more immediate goals or personalized as an open-ended process.

In any case, the best therapy outcome is possible when appointments are scheduled and attended regularly.

How long are my sessions with you and how often will we meet?

Sessions are 45 minutes. Depending on your needs, goals, and interest, I will usually meet with you one to three times per week.

What are your fees?

45 minutes @ $200 – Individual
50 minutes @ $250 – Couple

Schedule and Forms of Payment

Fee-for-service is the practice regular payment structure. However, we can discuss weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payment arrangements. To send payments, I primarily use Zelle, Venmo, Visa, and MasterCard.

Do you ever use a sliding scale if I can’t afford your regular fee?

I offer reduced fees based on financial hardship on a limited basis. If you are interested in working with me, please contact me to discuss your options and if I have reduced-fee slots available.

Do you have a cancellation/no-show Policy?

Since the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time specifically for you, a minimum of 24-hours’ notice is required to reschedule or cancel an appointment.

If you miss your appointment or fail to notify me within the time requested by email or voicemail, you will be charged the full fee of the session.

Do you take insurance for payment?

I am not contracted with any insurance companies. However, I offer a monthly statement, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, using your Out-Of-Network benefits.

I recommend that you contact your insurance company to verify your plan coverage and determine the extent of your mental health benefits.

What age range do you work with?

I work with adults (18+).

Do you work with couples?

Yes.

Is the information I share with you in my sessions protected?

In general, all disclosed communication and information during session is confidential and may not be revealed to anyone without written permission from you.

However, disclosure may be required by law in a number of circumstances: where there is reasonable suspicion of child, dependent, or elder abuse; where there is a reasonable suspicion that a client presents a danger of violence to others or where the client is likely to harm him or herself unless protective measures are taken.

In most legal proceedings, you have the right to prevent me from providing any information about your treatment. However, in some proceedings involving child custody and those in which your emotional condition is an important element, a judge may order the release of records and/or testimony.

I may occasionally find it helpful to consult about a case with another professional(s) for the benefit of a client’s progress. In these consultations, I make every effort to avoid revealing the identity of and/or any identifying information about my client. The consultation is also legally bound to keep the information confidential.

Can I email or text you about issues related to my therapy?

It is important to know that email and cell phone texting can be relatively accessed by unauthorized people and, hence, the privacy and confidentiality of such communication cannot be guaranteed. I will only use email and text with you for scheduling and administrative matters.

Who do I call in case of a mental health emergency?

In the case of a mental health emergency, you should call 911, the San Diego Crisis Hotline (888) 724-7240, your family physician, or go to the nearest emergency room.

Online therapy

Currently, I work solely online.
